Fashion of the VMAs

I'm back from my hopefully long awaited comeback! And today's discussion is about one of the two award shows that occurred this past week; The MTV Video Music Awards. Of course, fashion joins the ride to every award show, so today let's discuss the red carpet styles that specifically stuck out in my eyes.

First and foremost, the most iconic fashion appearance awakened from the dead! Katy Perry and Riff Raff stepped out in a more modern rendition of the iconic all-denim couple appearance of Brtiney Spears and Justin Timberlake.

Does this really need any comment?

It's not a red carpet review post without an appearance of Kendall Jenner, and as usual, she never disappoints. Donned in an all black outfit, Kendall puts her special touch with a sheer top and golden clutch.

Classy, stylish and beautiful; no need for any more comments.

Top: Alon Livne
Black Bra: La Perla
High-Waist Pants: Alon Livne
Shoes: Giuseppe Zanotti

What's a music award show without the one, the only Beyoncé? Like always, Beyoncé took the spotlight in a floor length, full sleeved black dress. Adding some sheer cut-outs and a bit of sparkle, Beyoncé looked.. FLAWLESS!

Dress: Nicholas Jebran
Shoes: Christian Louboutin

One lovely lady who turned heads on the red carpet was Rita Ora. Letting it all out, Rita walked the carpet in a silk red floor length gown. What else? The thigh high slit, and low-cut back showed off a decent amount of her glowing skin.
A silver choker and red strapless heels completed the sleek look.

Sleek, radiant and gorgeous.

Dress: Donna Karan Atelier
Choker: Lorraine Schwartz

Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian stepped out and revealed a little more than expected. Still looking classy JLo wore a silver, sparkling gown with a thigh high slit that reminded me of an ice princess.

Kim landed herself on that list as well. The printed dress resembled a carpet draped over her shoulders and the low-cut was just a wardrobe malfunction just waiting to happen.

Jennifer Lopez:                       Kim Kardashian:
Dress: Charbel Zoe                 Dress: Balmain
Shoes: Jimmy Choo                Shoes: Balmain

Another special lady who stood out in the crowd was the lovely Iggy Azalea. Sparkling on the carpet, Iggy showed off her killer curves in a silver, figure flattering gown. The sleek hair added a sophistication to her.

Honestly, I can't find the words to write anything about this. She looked absolutely radiant on the carpet.

Dress: Versace

In all, the red carpet did not disappoint. The fashion was eye catching and everyone looked amazing! Congrats to all winners!

Must-Haves for Fall 2014

August has begun, and with that in just a few short weeks summer will come to a close and the cool, fall weather will arrive. According to some very reputable sources, Fall 2014 calls for 6 specific fashion must-haves:
  1. Flouncy Dress
  2. Coloured Coat
  3. Slouchy Pants
  4. To-Handle Bag
  5. Slip Dress
  6. Strong Sweater

The Flouncy Dress; It is for any woman who wants to look cute, but not look too young. It's perfect for a lunch date, or a cocktail party. By choosing a dress that falls just above the knees, fluttering sleeves, and silhouette flattering, this dress brings out the inner softness in you. I recommend a dress in black and white to better suit a woman's figure.

The Coloured Coat; Most coats buried deep in your closet stay in the black or navy colour family. This new trend freshens up your look by brightening your colour palette to soft greens, or light pinks. The dusty colors cooperate well with an alternate top colour and the look is softened when the coat has a sort of fuzzy feel/look to it.

The Slouchy Pants; Recently the trend of skinny pants 24/7 is fading a bit and loose, slouchy pants are brought into the mix. The pants are very comfortable, versatile and the best part, they make any woman's legs look longer. To work this new tredn, choose wool pants, generously cut, and match them with a narrow, figure suiting top and the perfect set of heels.

The Top-Handle Bag; Most people know this as a bag, but it is time to realize that those handles at on bags are meant for function, more for decoration. The new trend has designers putting and emphasis on the handles. To quote Allure magazine, "...do what models and fashion editors do and cradle it in your arm like a football." Ever thought of trying to compare football and fashion?

The Slip Dress; Although resembling an actual slip, the characteristics of the slip dress are polar opposites to a slip. It has no embellishments, and its quite plain in design. The fabric of this dress varies from heavy silk to velvet, with wide straps and most likely in dark or metallic colours. Rather than being cute and lightweight, the slip dress is plain, but on the verge of edgy.

The Strong Sweater; Who doesn't love sweaters? Always soft, always comfortable, whether its fitted or oversized, my go-to out is a sweater. This fall the trends include a statement sweater. Pick a versatile sweater; worn at home, or work/dinner. A deep burgundy or navy, really any deep colour perfects the look. Keeping the perfection running all throughout the look, tie back that beautiful hair of yours and match dark, skinny pants, and you are set for any occasion.

This fall big trends are coming your way. Hopefully this post gives you a warning to get ready for the upcoming must-haves. Good Luck this fall.

Lord of the Rings

Recently, Instagram is overflowing with pictures of lovely girl hands with multiple rings on them. Ever since, this has become one of the newest trends, except there is a special way to wear these rings and not look over the top like some people may look.

First things first, pick out 2 or more rings which look similar to each other; like their bands or colour. Next, obviously put them on. Basically you're finished, but if you decide to take this to a more fashionable and clean cut kind of look, that manicure of yours needs to be on point. The only problem is that as much as you may love your designed covered funky nails, unfortunately, the perfect ring filled hand needs a simple manicure. Go right ahead with bright colours, but my advice is to keep it at that. No designs or sparkles, it will look like too much and a little messy.

Reminder that this is just advice, do with it what you like. Go against it, go with it, as long as you rock it with confidence I like it.

Hair Trends; Bobby Pins

Rather than using it for keeping hair in place, this new trend takes bobby pins to a more fashionable level.

The majority of people who use bobby pins aim to keep them hidden and close to their hair colour. The new trend of using bobby pins as an accessories is stepping way over the line. Fashion shows, runways and even bloggers have picked up this look. It's been used to decorate a person's hair, from criss crossing to creating shapes. It creates a fresh, modern look all around. The hair-do looks summery, free and inside out. It's a fresh new twist to the beloved hair world.

Let's take a look at some looks from blogs and the red carpet.

Product Review; Sunscreen

If you're like me, you are not a huge fan of wearing sunscreen. Personally, I don't like the thick, cakey feeling it gives you when applied to the face and body. Plus, it doesn't work too well with make-up if it's super thick.

Everyday prior to beginning of this summer, I put up with the cakey feeling of the sunscreen that my mother typically bought me for the sake of protected skin. However, I enjoyed the moisturizing powers and sun protecting powers, so for a while I put up with it. Until now.

Once again, my constant visits to Target and deep searching on Google bring a solution to the hatred of thick, creamy sunscreen. I bring you L'Oreal Sublime Sun.

Unlike most sunscreens, this one is made specifically from a reputable brand that works with products for the face. Also, it is SPF 50 (this part is a biggie, the higher the SPF the better) and water resistant. This sunscreen has 3 specific features that work perfectly for the face. It is a foam, which makes it super light on the face and other parts of the body, and it's non-sticky and non-greasy; so that icky thick feeling with most sunscreens doesn't happen with this one.

I've been using this sunscreen for about 2 months now, and I find it extremely moisturizing and protecting. Zero complaints come from me regarding this sunscreen. I highly recommend anyone to use this during during the summer, and all year around.

Helpful Tip: Sunscreen is not just for hot summer days when the sun shines down hard on you. It should be used year round even on cloudy days because sun rays still reach through clouds and affect your skin.

Beauty Tip #2

To refrain from pre-mature wrinkling, refrain from tugging on the eyes when applying eye liner
